We recently announced the Prescott, Arizona Checker show in April 2018 hosted by Walt Lynn and are pretty excited about the west coast event.  If you can’t make it out to Arizona, fear not because the ICTA will also be meeting in the Midwest later in August, 2018.  Special thanks go out to Dave Kniffen for organizing another great expected event!

According to Dave late August is perfect for Checker and car fans.  The Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion is being run and its a great event that welcomes owner-drivers of non-racing vintage sports cars of all types to come and participate in various events and activities.

Beginning with a small event in 2009, the Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion celebrates sports car races that were held on the streets of the town of Put-in-Bay on Ohio’s South Bass Island from 1952 to 1959 and in 1963. The steadily growing, three-day reunion engages racers and non-racers alike in an event that reaches back in time to capture the history and re-create the atmosphere of sports car racing of that era in a uniquely beautiful setting.

Restore Barn and Checker

Friday August 24th: The current plan has Checkers coming in Friday to Clinton, Ohio and checking into hotels and then all gathering at Dave’s event center for meet and greet, Checker show off and BBQ dinner. According to David “This is a barn that we transformed into a reception hall for our rustic New Year’s Eve Wedding. We had so much fun doing this, and feel we have a unique gift to share with other people that we decided to rent this out for weddings, receptions, anniversary, birthday or graduation parties”

August 25th: Saturday morning we’ll meet up at the Tin Goose Diner an antique 50’s style diner, connected to an air museum, interesting stuff.

From there onto the African wildlife safari, where we can drive our Checkers thru the course of live wildlife, alpacas, zebra, antelope, bison etc. and feed them by hand!

Sunday August 26th: Saturday morning we Ferry to Put-in-Bay, Ohio, we meet at the Put-in-Bay ferry dock, travel over on the Miller car ferry for the Put-In-Bay vintage sports car racing at the island’s airport It will be a balanced mix of events honoring the island’s racing history, participation in a car show and parade. It’s a perfect fit for Checkers

Following the parade we’ll park our Checkers and show off for a bit to the islanders and tourists. After our showing we’re then off to the island winery tour, Perry’s monument tour and spend time to cruise and explore the island. After the day’s events we’ll return to mainland then for the night and random activities.

Late Sunday, back to the Giving-Tree-Orchards for our Checker weekend send off.
